Guys, the recipe I’m about to share with you is by far the best breakfast oats recipe I have ever made.

These stress relief vegan ashwagandha chia chai spiced banana breakfast oats were just something else. You know when you combine certain ingredients and it’s as though they were made for each other? Well, this was a winning combination.

On some days (especially Mondays), you wake up and just feel down. You are stressed, there is so much work to do, a long week ahead, you’re not looking forward to seeing certain people and all the problems in your life just congregate and present themselves to you.

It is on such days that we could really do with a nice breakfast. A breakfast that doesn’t just keep us going for several hours, but also provides additional benefits such as stress relief. Ashwagandha powder is thought to help with stress relief and calm the nerves.

When you start your day off with a nice breakfast, that can set the tone for the rest of the day and help you tackle the day with renewed vigour and passion.

The good thing about Ashwagandha powder is that it is also thought to help with sleep. If you have problems sleeping, this breakfast could allow you to calm down over the course of the day helping with a good night’s sleep at the end of the day.

These oats are vegan as I use water instead of dairy milk to cook them. You can also use plant-based milk with a neutral flavour to cook these. To be honest, if you are using oat milk, it’s the same as just adding water to oats which is what I am doing. You can also use almond milk.

You can use any combination of fruits to make these ashwagandha chia chai oats. However, I wanted to add banana because I know that banana goes really well with spices such as cinnamon and cardamom.

These ashwagandha chia chai spiced banana oats were bursting with a spicy chai flavour – when I had the first spoonful, I was actually in shock at how good they were. I really did not expect that sort of flavour. I could start up a cafe and serve these breakfast oats all day long and people would keep coming back for more! That’s how good they were.

I also added chia seeds, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds and brazil nuts to these oats for those extra nutrients such as selenium and B vitamins.

INGREDIENTS:

 

When cooking the oats

60g raw oats

Water as required

1/2 tsp cinnamon powder

1/2 tsp ginger powder

1/4 tsp cardamom powder

1/2 tsp ashwagandha powder

1/2 banana coins

For Garnishing

1/2 banana coins

Handful of blueberries

Handful of grapes

1 – 2 brazil nuts

1/2 tsp chia seeds

1 tsp sunflower seeds

1 tsp pumpkin seeds

Sweetener e.g. honey / maple syrup

METHOD:

 

On a medium flame, heat a saucepan, add the raw oats and water and stir.

Add the cinnamon powder, cardamom, ginger powder, ashwagandha powder, banana and stir.

Cook for about 3 – 5 minutes until the breakfast oats are cooked and you have the required consistency.

Pour into a bowl.

 

Garnish with banana, blueberries and grapes. You can garnish with any other fruit such as plums, strawberries, raspberries, apple, pear.

Add the brazil nuts, chia seeds, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds.

Drizzle with honey and enjoy this wonderful ashwagandha chai oatmeal hot.
