Vegan Cashew Nut (Like White Sauce) Pea Protein Pasta Recipe – High Protein Recipes – Vegan Recipes


Just because you’re vegan, it does not mean that you cannot enjoy white sauce pasta!

This vegan cashew nut pasta recipe tastes delicious and you won’t even miss white sauce after trying this.

I kept it very simple with the few ingredients I had on hand i.e. cashew nuts, mixed herbs, black pepper, salt and red chilli flakes.

You can add any vegetables you like or dark leafy greens for that extra healthy boost.


This vegan cashew nut pea pasta recipe was a very simple recipe with a delightful taste, however, if you like cheese, then it’s also worth adding nutritional yeast. I did not have nutritional yeast so I did not add it, but it gives it that cheesy taste.

I know you are wondering why I made vegan white sauce pasta if I have not added nutritional yeast which gives it that cheesy taste – when cheese is what makes white sauce!! 😀 Honestly, it tasted delicious even without the nutritional yeast, it was very edible.

Sometimes, we may not have all the ingredients on hand and I love substituting with other ingredients or trying to cook without the missing ingredients to see what I get – it makes me feel adventurous 🙂

I’m sure there are plenty of times when you open the fridge only to find that you don’t have the ingredients you need – I’m showing you that it’s not the end of the world. You can still go ahead and make that dish either by substituting with something else or skipping it altogether.

This is a high protein recipe as I used pea pasta. Peas are packed with protein and instead of eating wheat pasta which has only carbohydrates (they do taste good), pea pasta can make for a healthier meal especially if you’re vegan, vegetarian or looking to build muscle.


The recipe below made enough pasta for me but then again I do eat very small portions. I would suggest doubling the ingredients below to make enough pasta for one.


For 1 small portion



For pasta:

1 Handful of pea pasta

Water as required

1/2 tsp salt


For vegan white sauce:


1 tsp olive oil

1 medium garlic clove chopped

8 cashew nuts ground / blended

Water as required

Salt to taste

1/4 tsp pepper

1/2 tsp mixed herbs

1/4 red chilli flakes (or you can add fresh green chilli chopped)

First cook the pea pasta.

Add the pasta and water to a pan on medium flame and cook.

Add salt.

Be careful when cooking pea pasta – you don’t want it overdone. Over done pea pasta doesn’t taste very nice so keep an eye on it.


Meanwhile, chop the garlic and blend the cashew nuts.

In another pan on a medium flame, add olive oil.

Once hot, add the chopped garlic and cook it for 1 minute.

Add the ground cashew nuts and water to create a sauce.

Add salt, black pepper, mixed herbs and red chilli flakes.

Stir and cook for a few minutes.

Once the sauce has thickened as required, add the cooked pea pasta.

Mix and cover the pasta with the sauce.

Cook for a few more minutes and then plate the pasta.

Enjoy hot!

This high protein vegan white sauce pea pasta barely took 10 minutes to cook.

It’s such a quick, easy to make, healthy vegan lunch or dinner idea.

Packed with protein, this vegan cashew nut pea protein pasta will also keep you fuller for longer.

As I mentioned above, add nutritional yeast when cooking for that cheesy taste.

You can garnish with coriander or any other greens as you like.
