Beetroot Banana Blueberry Amla Powder Smoothie with Brazil Nuts Chia Seeds Pumpkin Seeds

 

Ok, so beetroots, I find, are a very difficult vegetable to incorporate in cooking. I’m not very fond of their taste and yet they are so healthy. You can always make roast vegetables and add beetroot but I stand with my verdict, I don’t like its taste.

The best way to eat beetroot is either in a smoothie or to make juice of it.

Today, we make a beetroot smoothie with the 3 B’s – Beetroot, Banana and Blueberry. You can either make this thick as a smoothie to eat with a spoon in a smoothie bowl as below; or make it liquid enough to drink the Beetroot Amla Smoothie through a straw.

I prefer it a bit more liquid. However, if you make it thick, then you can make a smoothie bowl and add extra toppings for that extra healthy kick.

In this recipe, I also add amla powder. It is a great way to incorporate the superfood Amla, also known as Indian Gooseberry. Amla is thought to be a miracle fruit for hair growth & hair care in India. It has been used for many centuries and has a very high content of Vitamin C.

INGREDIENTS:

 

For Smoothie

1 beetroot

1/2 frozen banana

Handful of frozen blueberries

Handful of spinach leaves

1/2 tsp Amla Powder

Water for the desired consistency

 

For Garnishing

Chia seeds, Brazil Nuts and Pumpkin Seeds

Fresh Banana Coins and Blueberries

You can add any other toppings you like

 

METHOD:

 

Add all the ingredients to your blender and blend for a few minutes until it has become a smoothie.

Pour into your bowl and garnish with the desired toppings including chia seeds, brazil nuts, pumpkin seeds, banana and blueberries.

Enjoy cold and eat right away.

It may take some getting used to if you’ve never eaten smoothie bowls before but once you’ve had a few spoonfuls, it’s quite yummy.

You can add any other fruits you like such as kiwi fruit or grapes.

You can also decide to drink this rather than eat it and simply add more water to your Beetroot Amla smoothie for the desired consistency.

This Beetroot smoothie is a great way to incorporate Amla powder which can be quite bitter to the taste if eaten on its own. The sweetness of the fruits make the Amla taste mild.

Drink this smoothie regularly 1 – 2 times a week and you’ll be supercharging your health to new levels!
