Warm Turmeric Oats with Yoghurt, Banana and Pineapple – Breakfast Recipes

 

It’s getting warmer here in the UK but I still crave a warm bowl of oats in the mornings. It is still relatively cold when I wake up in the mornings and a nice hot bowl of oatmeal just does the trick.

Today, the sun was out and it inspired me to create this gorgeous golden turmeric bowl of oats sunshine. I just bought a pineapple this week and I thought it would make for a great addition to my breakfast bowl of oats.

Along with banana, the superfood turmeric and yoghurt, this oatmeal bowl was so filling and delicious. Perfect for the sunny morning.

This turmeric oatmeal bowl is a great way to make breakfast fun for kids too and get them to eat turmeric. Turmeric does have a bitter taste to it but adding it to recipes such as this breakfast oats recipe is a great way to make breakfast fun for the kids.

I used dairy yoghurt and added a bit of vanilla essence to it to make it vanilla yoghurt. If you are vegan, use vegan yoghurt.

I also used honey as a sweetener and you can use maple syrup if you are vegan.

INGREDIENTS:

 

50g raw oats

Water to cook the oats as required

1/3 tsp turmeric powder

Honey or Maple Syrup (or any other sweetener)

1/2 banana

Slice of pineapple

1 tbsp yoghurt

Vanilla essence

 

METHOD:

 

Prepare vanilla yoghurt by adding a drop or two of vanilla essence to your yoghurt. Mix and keep aside.

Add the oats to a pan with water. Add turmeric powder. On a medium flame, cook the oats for about 2 – 3 minutes until you have the required consistency.

Pour into a bowl.

Add the vanilla yoghurt on top along with banana and pineapple. I normally drizzle the honey on top.
