I sponsored a community kitchen worth £250 at Sufra through Better Food Mood

I’m so excited to share the news that I sponsored my first community kitchen at Sufra NW London through Better Food Mood. I am so grateful for your support which enabled me to do so 🙂

This community kitchen was worth £250 and 85 people showed up. They enjoyed a 2 course meal – Iranian stew (both veg and non-veg options), saffron rice and chocolate orange cake with orange ricotta cheese for dessert.

Sufra’s community kitchens are dinners organised in a restaurant style setting where a two or three course meal is served. It is open to anyone and everyone in the local community.

These kitchens create a sense of connection for those who may not be able to afford a meal in a restaurant, or someone who is feeling lonely and isolated, someone who is homeless etc.

The idea is to get people together so that they may meet new people and enjoy a wholesome meal, which they may otherwise not be able to afford.

I really love this initiative and it is one of the reasons why I decided to support SUFRA. It really aligns with the message I hope to communicate through Better Food Mood that being connected to those around us is very essential for mental health.

We are living in an era whereby isolation is being promoted and I believe this is the reason why so many mental health issues have become prevalent. We are inherently a social species and disconnecting ourselves from those around us is affecting us mentally. More people now than ever are suffering from loneliness and depression.

I feel that one way for us to live happier and have more meaningful lives is to get out there, meet new people and start building real relationships in the real world. Having a support system in the real world that we can fall back on is so important.

Hence, these community kitchen by SUFRA provide an opportunity for those who are less privileged to continue building those connections and I couldn’t be prouder to support this cause.

Thanks to your support, I’m so grateful to have reached a level where I can do this for others through Better Food Mood. It has been my dream for over 15 years to help others whether it is through food or mood and all I can say is that I’m feeling happy and grateful to be able to achieve this.

I do hope you have a wonderful weekend ahead and thank you so much for making this possible for me xxx
